League of Women Voters registration drive Tuesday

Every year, millions of Americans find themselves unable to vote because they missed a voter registration deadline, didn't update their registration, or weren't sure how to register. As many as 1 in 4 eligible Americans are not registered to vote, according to the League of Women Voters of the Palatine Area.

To address that, the group is taking part in efforts to encourage people to register on Tuesday, which is National Voter Registration Day.

The group will have registrars at two branches of the Schaumburg library: the Central branch, 130 S. Roselle Road in Schaumburg, and the Hoffman Estates branch, 1550 Hassell Road in Hoffman Estates.

People also can visit vote411.org to find links to register to vote, verify their registration status and, when close to an election, find out what's on their ballot.

The Cook County Board of Elections website also offers online registration at ova.elections.il.gov.
