Two people injured, one seriously, in crash near Glenview

Two people were injured - one seriously - after a crash near Glenview early Tuesday morning, officials said.

The Glenview Fire Department and the North Maine Fire Protection District responded to the accident involving a car and a box truck around 7:30 a.m. at Central and East River roads, according to a news release from the Glenview department.

The woman driving the car had to be extricated, and she and her passenger were taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. The driver is hospitalized with serious injuries; her passenger is under observation for injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening, the release said. The driver and passenger of the box truck were released at the scene.

The accident is under investigation by the Cook County Sheriff's Police Department.
