Banning 'religions,' creates new ones
In response to Hadiya Afzal's letter on the separation of church and state.
Ironically, because of the drive to separate church and state, we're doing the very thing the Constitution prohibits, we are establishing a religion. Everyone has a worldview or a belief system. Some of those belief systems are labeled religions while others are not. Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism and other belief systems are labeled religions, I suppose because they have rites, houses of worship and other trappings of "religion."
However, Atheism and Humanism are also belief systems with their own answers to life's big questions. Because we have eliminated Christianity and the other "religions" from our schools and increasingly the public square, we are establishing another religion - Atheism/Humanism.
