Part of Butterfield Road in Lake County closing Aug. 1 for rail crossing repairs

A stretch of Butterfield Road in Vernon Hills and Libertyville will close Aug. 1 for repairs to Canadian National's Elgin, Joliet & Eastern railroad crossing north of Route 60, Lake County transportation officials said.

The closure is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Monday, Aug. 1, and end late in the afternoon on Friday, Aug. 5.

A detour will take drivers to Route 60 to Route 45 to Route 176. Local traffic will be allowed from Route 60 to the railroad crossing and from Route 176 to the crossing. The crossing will be closed to all traffic.
