Miss Addison contestants vie for scholarships

Three contestants will take part in the Miss Addison 2018 pageant, seeking to win scholarship money along with the title.

The Addison Chamber of Commerce and Industry will present the 2018 Miss Addison Scholarship Pageant at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, in the rotunda of the Addison Village Hall, 1 Friendship Plaza, Addison.

Miss Addison will receive a $2,000 scholarship while the first runner-up receives a $1,000 scholarship and second runner-up receives a $500 scholarship award. The scholarship money is provided by the village of Addison.

The 2018 contestants are Alyssa Ramos, Giselle Vazquez and Katarina Surjancev.

Contestants are judged on the essay they submit, their community and volunteer activities, their academics, a first interview at a meet-and-greet with judges, a fashion show, and their response to questions.

Judging the event will be Julie Aceto, former Miss Illinois and director of the Mrs. Illinois America Pageant; Anthony Muti of Mario Tricoci Salon; Sari Levy of Lucid Realty Inc.; and Meray Estephan representing the Addison Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Georgya Borova, 2017 Miss Addison, will participate in the activities of the evening, including asking contestants' input on a variety of questions, and assisting with presentations during the announcement of winners.

Oxford Bank and Trust is the 2018 pageant host. The Miss Addison pendant was produced by Razny Jewelers. The meet-and-greet dinner with judges was hosted by Aurelio's Restaurant of Addison. Bridal and bridesmaid fashions are provided by Here Comes the Bride of Addison. Flowers and sashes come from Addison Floral.

Miss Addison tiara is sponsored by Inspired Windows Inc. Musical entertainment is provided by Jay Contro of Sounds of Music Entertainment. Participant gifts come from Mario Tricoci Salon and Spa.
