Comment on women ruined NASCAR column

Being a longtime Indy car fan and someone who has attended many races and spent many hours watching and cheering on my favorite drivers, I enjoyed, at least at the onset, Mike Imren's article "What's the appeal for 350,000 auto racing fans?"

The article was a lighthearted look into what the big attraction is and what is it that draws people in.

Yes, he says, guys like cars. It was all in good fun until the very end when he wonders how this theory of loving cars brings in such a large number of women attending the Indy, NASCAR and Formula 1 races. His answer, "women were there for the crashes."

What?! Really?! I couldn't believe this is what I was reading, and printed in a paper I respect and have subscribed to for years. How absurd a comment, and how shocking it was put into print. Might be the most ridiculous thing I've ever read in a newspaper.
