Forest preserve programs help preschoolers explore the natural world

Preschoolers can learn all about toads and prairies during upcoming summer nature programs for 3- and 4-year olds, by the Forest Preserve District of Kane County.

On Thursday, July 27, "Toad-ally Fun!" will be the theme. It will be "A Prairie Wonderland" on Thursday, Aug. 24.

Registration per session is $5 per child. Advance registration is required.

"Nature Tykes" is for 3-year-olds with their parent or caregiver. They will explore the natural world through a variety of activities, including stories, nature hikes, songs, games or crafts.

The programs run from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Creek Bend Nature Center in St. Charles.

"Little Naturalists" is the Forest Preserve District's hourlong program for 4-year-olds. Children will discover the wonders of nature through a variety of activities including songs, hikes, stories, games or crafts.

This program is for the young participants. Parents, caregivers and siblings may enjoy the trails of LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve, or wait inside the nature center, during the program. The programs run from 1 to 2 p.m. at Creek Bend Nature Center.
