If lawmakers like it, be suspicious

Vote no on the "Safe Roads" amendment to the Illinois Constitution. Why should you vote no? Because almost all of our lawmakers believe it should be passed. Can you really trust them?

It's an amendment that would reward their cronies in the unions and construction business - a large source of campaign donations. It locks in a specific fund for exclusive use for transportation. Don't be hoodwinked.

These funds could never be used for other purposes even in the case of disaster relief. If they wanted to seriously affect the well-being of Illinois, our legislators should have proposed an amendment to the state's pension program. A pension program that is outdated and behind the times which has a catastrophic effect on Illinois debt.
