Boys volleyball: Harrington to lead Saint Viator as new head coach
Saint Viator High School has announced the school will be promoting Saint Viator alumnus Brennan Harrington (2013) to the position of head coach of the boys varsity volleyball team.
Harrington has been a part of the Saint Viator volleyball program for the last four years, serving as the head coach of the freshman boys, freshman girls and boys JV teams.
"Brennan has been an integral part of the volleyball program at Saint Viator over the last four years and has led the boys freshman and JV teams to very successful finishes in the ESCC conference tournament," said athletic director Jason Kuffel. "We're very excited to see what he'll be able to accomplish with our varsity team."
The freshman boys team became the 2018 ESCC champions, for only the second time in school history, under his leadership.
Prior to joining the coaching staff at Saint Viator, Harrington played volleyball for four years as a student at Saint Viator. During that time, he was named the team MVP and the Daily Herald All-Area Team Captain.
"Saint Viator has always been a second home to me," said Harrington. "The principles taught here have had a lasting impact on me and I apply them daily on and off the court. I feel grateful for the opportunity to share my vision for the Saint Viator volleyball program and I look forward to building on its success."
Harrington will take over the varsity boys head coaching position this season, which officially begins on April 5. The school has become a leader in the ESCC conference in its efforts to create new safety protocols that protect players and coaches from the spread of COVID-19.
