Kane County expands eligibility for Ride in Kane
Kane County is now sponsoring work-related rides for anyone who is 65 or older and people with disabilities through the Ride in Kane program.
The county already sponsors individuals who are low income and are seeking work-related rides from anywhere in the county.
Residents who live in areas without a sponsor may register with Kane County to take work-related rides if they fall into any of the three eligibility categories. See the map at kdot.countyofkane.org showing areas in grey that are now eligible for work-related rides.
Ride in Kane provides 24 hour a day, 7 day a week transportation services to area residents in partnership with the Regional Transit Authority (RTA), Pace Suburban Bus, local municipalities and human service agencies.
In January 2022, Kane County became the program administrator and grantee for the Ride in Kane program and, to date, has received nearly $6 million in Federal Transit Administration funds to reduce transportation barriers and expand mobility options to thousands of Kane County residents.
The 15 participating Ride in Kane sponsors include: Association for Individual Development, Aurora Township, City of Batavia and Batavia Township, Big Rock Township, Blackberry Township, Campton Township, City of Elgin and Elgin Township, City of Geneva, City of St. Charles and St. Charles Township, Village of South Elgin, Kane County, and Pace.
These participating sponsors have supported the program and continue to pledge their 50% local funding match required as program sponsors.
