Hanover Park man gets 4 years for Streamwood burglary

A Hanover Park man pleaded guilty to breaking into a Streamwood home earlier this year while the homeowner was out of town.

Alejandro Hernandez, 29, pleaded guilty to residential burglary in exchange for a four-year prison sentence, court records show.

Prosecutors say a neighbor who was looking after the home while the owners were out of town encountered Hernandez, who fled through a patio door and got into a car. The neighbor described the car to police, who subsequently arrested Hernandez.

Hernandez, who must pay $654 in fines, received credit for 52 days in custody.

He must complete at least 50 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.
