Respectful dialogue needed going forward
Thank you for your thoughtful and well-written Editorial regarding President-elect Donald Trump. If as Americans, we can follow this path, we have the opportunity to change our country in a positive way.
I did not vote for Mr. Trump and actually, at this point, I do not respect him. He may be a successful businessman but he is not the role model I would look up to as president. Nor would I not want my children or those around me to follow the attitudes and actions he has expressed toward people of different colors, religions, sexual orientation, ethnicities, women, people who are mentally or physically handicapped or people who are just different.
For many of us, it is frightening to contemplate the behaviors he exhibited during the campaign being put into action. That being said, I am keeping an open mind on him leading us forward in a way that we can all be proud.
I understand that he will not always choose the perfect answer and like all of us, open his mouth and something unintended will be said. He is human like the rest of us. In spite of my reservations I will not email, post or support any of the disrespectful comments regarding Mr. Trump.
If we can all do this, perhaps we can change the future.
