Greene Barn hosting third annual Rooted Acoustic Barn Raising race

Visitors can enjoy live music, refreshments from Belgio's and children's activities at the third annual Rooted Acoustic Barn Raising 5.5K and 1-mile Kids Dash at the Greene Farm Barn near Naperville.

The event starts at 8 a.m. Sunday, with registration taking place from 7:15 to 7:45 a.m. Packet pickup will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Dick Ponds in Lisle.

The start and finish line for Sunday's race will be in front of the barn and the race will be held entirely within the Greene Valley Forest Preserve. Naperville Trolley and Tours is providing free shuttle service between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. to barn from the Cinemark at Seven Bridges parking lot.

The 175-year-old, 14,000-square foot Greene Farm Barn, located in the forest preserve, will be open to the public, and timber frame experts will be on hand to share the building's history and provide construction insights. Artwork from the Naperville Art League will be on display in the barn.

Proceeds from the event benefit the barn. Information can be found at the RABR website at racerooster.com.
