Virtual Arbor Day celebration at Morton Arboretum
Arbor Day, celebrated the last Friday in April, is traditionally the most celebrated day of the year at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, with tree plantings, a plant sale drawing thousands of visitors and other special events.
This year, the celebration has moved to a virtual format while the 1,700-acre outdoor tree museum is temporarily closed through the end of the month due to safety measures related to COVID-19.
In lieu of in-person events, the arboretum is hosting a Facebook Live event, "Ask a Plant Clinic Expert," from noon to 1 p.m. April 24 to provide real-time answers to homeowners' questions about how to care for their gardens and trees as spring arrives.
