Garcia breaks out for Sox in sweep against Tigers
Batting just .176 with 2 RBI in his first 14 games of the season, Leury Garcia warded off discouragement.
"I always go to home plate with a positive vibe, with a positive mindset, because I work to get good results," the White Sox's versatile veteran said. "It's something that I put in my mind, just to be positive and get good results."
In Thursday's doubleheader sweep of the Tigers, Garcia played second base in Game 1 and was 1-for-2 with 2 RBI. In Game 2, he moved to right field and was 2-for-4 with 3 RBI.
"I followed the team enough to know he's an igniter," first-year Sox manager Tony La Russa said. "He's one of the igniters. Very conscientious, great teammate, winning player. And if he gets hot, it gets deeper."
