Railroad history expert to speak at Waubonsee Community College
Waubonsee Community College in Sugar Grove invites history lovers and railroad buffs alike to a free program that explores the intertwined history of the city of Aurora and the Burlington Railroad.
"On the Same Track - Aurora and the Burlington Railroad" will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 23, at the college's Aurora downtown campus, 18 S. River St.
Leo Phillip is a former railroad brakeman and conductor who has published numerous articles on railroad history.
He will discuss how the railroad fueled Aurora's growth and how the city, in turn, helped the railroad expand to become Aurora's largest employer for many years.
