Violation of standards is issue at Wheaton
As an alumna of Wheaton College, a private liberal arts college, I would like to comment on the suspension of Assistant Professor Hawkins. It is not an issue of what she chose to wear.
She may have Muslim neighbors to empathize with, but I don't believe there are many, if any, Muslim students at Wheaton.
This issue is that she annually signed the Doctrinal Statement and Statement of Faith, which states Wheaton's stand and beliefs, and then does not appear to believe or follow them.
Any business or institution has the right to suspend or terminate an employee who goes against the company's policy and standards. I would be concerned with what this professor is teaching. Does she wear a cross to empathize with Christians who are neighbors or students?
Just asking.
