Lake in the Hills tobacco shop owner accused of selling pot to undercover cops
A Lake in the Hills tobacco shop owner and another man are accused of selling marijuana to undercover narcotics officers, McHenry County sheriff's officials said Wednesday.
Robert P. Loud of Prospect Heights and Christopher D. Wills of Algonquin, both 24, appeared in court Tuesday on charges of unlawful delivery and possession of marijuana, according to a news release.
Both men were taken into custody on Dec. 22 after undercover officers purchased 28 grams of marijuana from them at Loudz Smoke Shop, 61 Polaris Drive, authorities said.
Wills was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia, officials said.
At the end of a monthlong investigation into marijuana sales at the shop, officials said, the sheriff's office narcotics task force seized about 56 grams of marijuana, packaging material, a digital drug scale, drug paraphernalia, a 2007 Toyota Camry and $286 in cash.
Bond was set at $10,000 for Loud, whose next court date is Jan. 26, authorities said. Wills' bond was set at $20,000; his next court date is Jan. 29.
