Readers can make up own minds about Sears
As one of hundreds of thousands of former Sears employees, I try to stay abreast of what is happening at the company. My time there was an exciting time for the company, as the No. 1 retailer in the world. Unfortunately, the company has struggled greatly since and continues to have significant challenges from a revenue, profitability and viable retailer standpoint.
While I have always held high regard for the people who work there, Sears needs to either make drastic changes or face reality in what its future holds.
I found it very interesting that you published a letter from someone expressing an issue with the tone of an earlier article about Sears in your paper. She wrote that the article "pertaining to the company's health shifts the public's perception of that particular company" and "be sure the information that's put out to the public is written as objectively as possible."
However, I don't believe that someone currently working (for over four years) at that same company can be more objective in her viewpoint to the public than those who wrote the article. Rather, I recommend leaving it to your very well-educated readership to make their own conclusions from the information and professional viewpoints provided by your writers and editors.
