30th annual Elgin Area Firefighter's Memorial Service to feature memorial plaza dedication

The 2022 Elgin Area Firefighter's Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Elgin Fire Barn No. 5 Museum.

At this 30th annual service, they also will be celebrating the grand opening and dedication of the Elgin Area Firefighter's Memorial Plaza.

This memorial plaza recognizes (active and retired) firefighters from Elgin and the surrounding communities who have passed away, as well as all Illinois line-of-duty firefighter fatalities since 1994.

The service will begin at 10 a.m. at the museum, 533 St. Charles St. in Elgin.

They also are planning to livestream the event on social media for those unable to attend in person.

The event is open to the public and will be held outdoors. Parking will be available at Gifford School located at 420 May St.
