Dundee Township Historical Society to recognize 3 homes at plaque presentation

The Dundee Township Historical Society will recognize three township homes at its annual Historic Sites Program and Plaque Presentation at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6.

The program will be held at the historical museum located at 426 Highland Ave. in West Dundee.

In order to qualify for this recognition a structure must be at least 100 years old, maintain its original appearance and building materials.

Construction on one of the homes, the William F. Oatman house in West Dundee, began in 1918. The house, completed in 1920, was designed by a North Shore architect.

A Georgian Style Town House, its design harkens to East Coast America in the 1700s. The home is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Another home dating to circa 1855 and one dating to 1893 also will be recognized and receive plaques.

The program is open to the public.

Attending this recognition and plaque presentation is a way to learn about some of the earlier residents of Dundee Township and architectural styles of the past.

There is no admission charge. Donations are welcome.

For more information, call the museum at (847) 428-6996.
