Collins nets 19 in Hersey's win
Senior guard Emily Collins scored 19 points and Hersey's girls basketball team held on for a 51-49 Mid-Suburban League crossover win against Hoffman Estates on Tuesday night.
Mary Kate Fahey added 8 points for the Huskies, who moved to 4-3 on the season with the win.
Raven Wilson had a game-high 20 points for Hoffman Estates (1-5) and Berry Chukwuyem added 10 points.
Rolling Meadows 61, Palatine 40: Rolling Meadows improved to 7-1 as it celebrated Senior Night with the MSL crossover win.
"It was nice recognizing our six seniors (Mallory Brand, Alexa Davis, Kristin Dillon, Lily Greifenstein, Elise Kowalski, and Kathleen Maltese) on Senior Night and having all six contribute to a win."
Top scorers for the Mustangs were Greifenstein (14 points), Davis (13 points), Kowalski (8 points) and Alison Sellergren (8 points). Davis clicked for three 3-pointers while Greifenstein, Kowalski, Sellergren and Kristin Dillon each had one.
Palatine (2-3) was led by freshman Madi Stark (11 points) and junior Olivia Radtke (6).
Wheeling 48, Conant 40: Senior Nosa Igiehon led a balanced Wheeling attack with 13 points in the Wildcats' MSL crossover win. Morgan Collar added 11 points and Tommy Helms had 10 as Wheeling moved to 3-3 for the season. Hannah Shulman led Conant (1-4) with 14 points and Neeha Kakuturu added 10.
Schaumburg 47, Elk Grove 43: Alyssa Orozco (12 points), Talia Torosian (11) and Ariana Doroskin (9) led Schaumburg (2-4) to this MSL crossover victory. Megan Murray had 15 points for Elk Grove (2-5) while Isabella Tierney added 10.
Christian Liberty 48, Beacon Academy 14: The Chargers improved to 4-1 as freshman guard Melissa Castro (16 points) hit 6 3-pointers. Classmate Julia Wolke added 8 points and senior Annika Dinkelman 6.
