Randhurst Village Street Fest to Salute Mount Prospect's Centennial Celebration | Saturday, Sept. 9
Randhurst Village (intersection of Rand and Elmhurst Roads in Mount Prospect) is bringing together local community groups, stores and restaurants as well as special entertainment and presentations for a day filled with family-friendly fun in a one of a kind outdoor event in its Second Annual Street Fest event Saturday September 9 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Celebrate the Centennial Celebration for Mount Prospect at this free event!
The fest will take place on Randhurst Village Drive beginning at Center Court and ending in front of AMC Randhurst theatres. This section of the Drive will be closed to vehicular traffic during the event. Guests are invited to bring their own chairs to enjoy the live performances.
Come early and stay all day. In honor of the Centennial, the first 500 guests will be treated with free birthday cake. And, every 100 minutes, a $100 gift certificate for a Randhurst Village store or restaurant will be given away.
The fun begins at 11 a.m., when the Daily Herald's Matt Avery presents cars from the 1920s - taking guests back in time to when Mount Prospect was founded. Matt Avery, who weekly tells the stories of cars and their owners, will interview owners and showcase their vehicles.
Get ready to rock out with this year's Street Fest headliner and area favorite 7th Heaven. The beloved band has charted #1 on the Midwest Billboard Charts three times in the past three years. 7th Heaven's songs have been heard on over 7 radio stations in Chicagoland with their hits "Time of Our Lives", "Stoplight", "Better This Way" and "Sing". They are also known for the famous "30 Songs in 30 Minutes" medley of songs from the 70's and 80's. 7th Heaven will be performing at Street Fest from 2 to 4 p.m.
The day will be filled with even more dance and musical performances by local community groups and young rising stars throughout the day. Performers include The Mount Prospect Park District's Dance Ensembles, Trinity Irish Dancers, Forest View Elementary Choirs, Holmes Junior High School, and an amazing group of finalists from the Daily Herald's Suburban Chicago's Got Talent contest.
Enjoy food tastings and demonstrations by Randhurst Village establishments. Restaurants include: BlackFinn Ameripub, Buffalo Wild Wings, e+o food and drink, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Truco Taqueria and Outback Steakhouse. Participating retailers include: AMC Theatres, Carters, Orange Theory Fitness, PetSmart and many more.
A variety of non-profit and civic organizations will be onsite providing information on their unique services and offering interactive activities for the whole family. These wonderful groups provide a wide variety of support and education for the needs of the local community including, food for needy families, cancer and grief support, community care and education. Other organizations include: Lemons of Love, Lutheran Charities KARE-9 Military Dogs, Mount Prospect Fire Department, Mount Prospect Public Library, Mount Prospect Park District, Mount Prospect Police Department, River Trails Park District and The Kids Pantry.
Rounding out the day's festivities will be old-fashioned carnival games, plus fun inflatables and yard games.
