County should learn about taxes from history
Tony Preckwinkle and her fellow commissioners need to review their history lessons. The EngLish tried a "beverage tax" that led to the Boston Tea Party and eventually the loss of the colonies. I don't think Cook County commissioners have much of a political future unless they wake up, realize they made a mistake, repeal that ridiculous tax and make the necessary cuts of the deadwood to get the finances in order. Trotting out doctors to ridiculously claim obesity is a result of beverages while ignoring the sugary cereal, snack and candy aisles is crazy. It is a total abuse of power, and citizens, to try to legislate our diet for us.
