West Aurora Unit District 129 honors Cities In Schools Aurora

During the West Aurora Unit District 129 board meeting on Aug. 29, Cities In Schools Aurora was recognized as "Those Who Make a Difference."

The mission of the Aurora-based organization is to empower students' success by fostering community-school partnerships.

Cities in Schools played a crucial role in rallying community partners to donate a total of $30,000 to the district's recent "Back 2 The Books" event, which distributed 2,500 backpacks filled with school supplies to West Aurora Unit District 129 students.

Theresa Shoemaker, executive director, was on hand to accept the award on behalf of the organization.
