Briarwood Healthcare Center at Friendship Village Schaumburg Receives Wound Care Certification
Briarwood Healthcare Center at Friendship Village Schaumburg has become Wound Care Certified by VOHRA Institute on Wound Care. The VOHRA Center of Excellence for Wound Management Program was developed to recognize healthcare centers that have developed a superior wound management program.
Healthcare centers having earned this distinction have met criteria including having a designated, accountable VOHRA Wound Certified nurse daily, a verified outcomes-focused physician specialist-led wound care program, less than 1% wound-related hospitalization rate and regular team meetings with a focus on quality and process improvements.
"Our partners who refer patients to rehabilitation at Briarwood told us that it was important to have access to high quality wound care services," said Tony Madl, administrator of Briarwood Healthcare Center. "This resonates with us. According to the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care, there are approximately 5 million people in the U.S. affected by chronic wounds. It's a prevalent problem and we're proud that we are so well positioned to provide the best wound care possible."
