Autumn will be a blast at Northbrook Park District
Summer isn't over yet, but you can get ready for fall by signing up for the awesome array of activities for the whole family offered by the Northbrook Park District.
You'll find fall classics like flag football and basketball, Northbrook Autumnfest, Brewfest and the Halloween 3K Fun Run.
There are also new and exciting programs like "Ladies who Lift" and "Couch to 3K" classes, a yoga workshop for spine safety, a middle school coed volleyball league and drop-in nature programs for children. Seniors can enjoy new options like chair yoga and dance fit at the Leisure Center.
This year, young golfers will have a choice between two-day and three-day NGA leagues at Heritage Oaks Golf Club and Anetsberger Golf Course.
Northbrook Theatre will offer performances for young audiences, like "Wake Up, Brother Bear!" and the musical "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!" as well as the holiday classic "A Christmas Carol: A Radio Play." Children can dip their toe into acting by taking an introductory theater program, and there are also private performing arts lessons for ages 5 and up.
The Northbrook Sports Center offers lots of opportunities on the ice, including figure skating, ice hockey and speed skating classes for various age groups.
Other special events lined up include the family favorite "Touch-A-Truck" on Sept. 23, the always colorful Halloween Pet Parade on Oct. 20, the Turkey Shoot Free-Throw Contest on Nov. 17, a delicious "Gobble 'Til You Wobble" cooking class Nov. 19 and a pre-Thanksgiving Lego Party on Nov. 22.
Registration for autumn programs and classes is now open for residents and opens at 9 a.m. Aug. 9 for nonresidents. The park district's 2023 Autumn Guide is available online at nbparks.org/autumnguide.
