Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity to be dedicated Dec. 1

In a two-part celebration, Montgomery-based Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity will dedicate its newest home on Saturday, Dec. 1. The public is invited.

The celebration will open with a worship service at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, 15 Oak Ave. in Aurora.

Speakers will include Carmen Fernandez of Aurora, future 1553 Solfisburg homeowner; and Matt Johnson, president, Chicagoland Habitat for Humanity.

After the worship service, the celebration will continue with an open house at 1553 Solfisburg Ave. In a ceremony there, Habitat officials will present Fernandez keys to her home plus a family Bible and other housewarming gifts. Jill Kruckenburg, Thrivent Financial Services, will present a $105,000 grant from the international financial services firm.

Refreshments and self-guided tours of the Fernandez home will close the event.

The four-bedroom, frame ranch house at 1553 Solfisburg Ave. in Aurora is Fox Valley Habitat's 59th home completed since the group's inception in 1989.
