On November 9th at Five Seasons Family Sports Club in Northbrook: '5 Reasons Your Diet Won't Work'
A holistic health coach will be speaking Thursday, November 9th at Five Seasons Family Sports Club in Northbrook to help individuals who have struggled to lose, and keep off, weight.
Claudia Braun will lead the free one-hour session starting at 6 p.m. at the club, 1300 Techny Road. Her own recovery from weight problems two decades ago sparked her practice as a healthy living and weight-loss coach.
The program, "5 Reasons Your Diet Won't Work: Undo the Diet Trap," is open to everyone. It is especially relevant for women over 40 who haven't been successful on diets but keep trying to lose weight and are open to another approach, said Braun.
"Too often, people who try traditional diets are left feeling discouraged and worse about themselves," said Braun. "This is a proven way beyond those approaches."
In the session, attendees will learn why most diets fail and how to avoid those mistakes, how to create a way of eating that gets positive results, insights about losing weight they likely never heard, and simple and easy changes they can make immediately.
Through a mind-body-spirit approach, Braun guides individuals and groups to live a more balanced and conscious life. Among other topics, she educates women on the power of prioritizing and unapologetically putting themselves first.
Her practice includes one-to-one as well as group coaching programs, along with healthy living workshops and retreats. Braun draws from many modalities, including her nutritional training, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), aromatherapy, and her background as a yoga instructor.
Braun spent 16 years of her life on a yo-yo diet spiral, before seeking the help that transformed her relationship with food. That was 20 years ago, and Braun's life has likewise been transformed since she halted her prior patterns.
"I'd used food for most of my life-for my happiness, my pain, my worries, and my fears," Braun said. "It was my confidant. Changing the relationship felt like breaking up with my best friend. It wasn't easy, but it was so much better than the pain and hell of my old food relationship."
