Recall issued for Trader Joe's pistachios that might contain salmonella
Trader Joe's has issued a recall on three types of dry-roasted pistachios based on concerns that they might contain salmonella.
"We have been alerted by our supplier of In-Shell, Roasted Pistachios that the following products with the 'best if used by' date codes from Oct. 27, 2016 through Nov. 4, 2016 may be contaminated with salmonella," according to Trader Joe's website.
The nuts that are of concern include:
• Trader Joe's Dry Roasted & Unsalted Pistachios (UPC 0007 9990)
• Trader Joe's Dry Roasted & Salted Pistachios (UPC 0007 9983)
• Trader Joe's 50% Less Salt Roasted & Salted Pistachios (UPC 0011 1348)
These products are packaged in 16-ounce plastic bags with the with code information stamped on the back of the package, along the bottom. The products were distributed to Trader Joe's stores nationwide.
"Out an abundance of caution, all bags of the pistachios have been removed from store shelves and their sale has been suspended while the issue is investigated," the company said.
No illnesses have been reported.
Trader Joe's urges customers to return the bags to the store for a full refund.
