Island Lake to vote on marijuana rules Thursday

The Island Lake village board on Thursday will consider zoning regulations for businesses that grow, process or sell marijuana for recreational users.

Details of the proposed zoning rules weren't available Tuesday. The board also will consider enacting a 3% sales tax on marijuana sales.

Starting Jan 1, the possession and licensed sale of small amounts of marijuana will be legal in Illinois for anyone 21 or older. The meeting is set for 7:30 p.m. at village hall, 3720 Greenleaf Ave.
