Donate items for veterans at Movies on the Green

The Mount Prospect Downtown Merchants Association is hosting a special double feature for Movies on the Green in honor of the Fourth of July holiday with a showing of "Top Gun" June 28 and "Top Gun Maverick" June 29.

As part of the events, the association is partnering with VFW Post 1337 and American Legion Post 525 to collect donations for Packages 4 Patriots, an organization that sends care packages to military service members.

A list of items needed is available at www.downtownmountprospect.com.

Monetary donations will also be accepted to cover the cost of shipping the care packages.

There will be a kids' activity at the events, with coloring sheets and art supplies for kids to draw pictures and write cards and letters to military service members serving abroad.

Movies begin at dusk and are shown on the Centennial Green at the Mount Prospect Village Hall, 50 S. Emerson St.
