Issue questions
What are the most important issues facing your community and how do you intend to address them?
The most important issues facing my community are
1) Restoring public access to the Lake in the Hills Fen State Nature Preserve. I would be in a position to provide board members the benefit of my knowledge 25+ years of Personal Involvement with the preserve
2) Revised Legal requirements need to be addressed with the three impacted entities to continue offering the "Traditional Free Guided Public Nature Walks" and the offering of informational programs including the reactivation of volunteer help to monitor rare plant species and to collect seed.
3) Restoring the village organized opportunity for court-ordered community service to be performed on Nature Preserve projects. The new restrictions have terminated the Police Dept. ability to continue offering their "Peer Jury" opportunity for some juvenile offenders to avoid a criminal record.
What makes you the best candidate for the job?
Those who did community service with me through the Peer Jury have no record of recidivism!
Describe your leadership style and explain how you think that will be effective in producing actions and decisions with your village board or city council.
My leadership style explains my not needing to know details but to assure offenders that they should be proud of what they accomplish and will be able to show future family members the results of their work. The Village Population will be proud to show what has been accomplished.
How would you describe the condition of your community's budget, and what are the most important specific actions the town should take to assure providing the level of services people want?
My understanding of the condition of our community's budget is that we receive high marks every year and that reductions in requirements have been recorded
What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?
My good idea is that we should find a way to educate our youth, and for that matter the public, that they live in the "Prairie State" and nothing related to the Prairie is taught in the classroom. I have tried, but even with help from our Senator Pam Althoff, been unable to be allowed to give a "One Time" presentation about the Prairie to students in Class. Teachers are required to follow the curriculum to the letter and it does not mention Prairie.
