Boys volleyball: Hersey goes 2-3 at Glenbrook North

Mid-Suburban East boys volleyball champion Hersey finished with a 2-3 effort against a power-packed field in Glenbrook North's tournament Friday and Saturday.

The Huskies defeated Lake Forest and Evanston in two-setters but fell short against Oak Park-River Forest in a three-set match and against Glenbard West and the host Spartans in two sets.

Top attackers for Hersey (27-5) were Joe Nugent (38 kills), Jake Mailloux (31), Patrick O'Brien (22) and Matt Hopkins (21).

Leading the blocking effort were Nugent (14) and O'Brien (13), while Justin Hong had a team-best 60 digs.

Vince Reisel finished with 122 assists and Hong was 51-for-55 serving with 6 aces.
