East Aurora Dist. 131 contract talks to resume Wednesday
East Aurora District 131 officials and a union are scheduled to resume negotiations Wednesday on a new contract for teachers, support workers and office workers.
The two sides met Saturday and again Monday.
According to a news release from the district, the two have agreed on issues related to teacher and support staff transfer rights, filling vacancies and assignments. It also said the union has submitted a revised economic proposal.
Talks Wednesday will take place with a federal mediator from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Teachers picketed Monday night's school board meeting, as they did two weeks ago.
The East Aurora Council, Local 604, American Federation of Teachers issued a 10-day notice of intent to strike, but has not called a strike. The earliest workers could strike would be Friday.
The union represents about 1,000 teachers, 400 support workers and 100 office workers.
The union president and spokesman could not be reached for comment Tuesday afternoon.
