East Aurora teachers file strike notice
The union representing East Aurora District 131 teachers and other workers on Monday issued a 10-day notice of intent to strike.
It filed the notice with the school district, the Kane County Regional Office of Education and the Illinois Education Labor Relations Board, according to Amy Excell, media director for the Illinois Federation of Teachers.
East Aurora Council, Local 604, of the American Federation of Teachers represents about 1,000 full-time teachers, 400 support workers and 100 office workers.
The earliest workers could walk out would be Oct. 5.
The union has not announced a possible strike date.
The two sides are scheduled to resume negotiations on Saturday.
Talks stalled in early August and the school district declared an official impasse.
