'Lure of the Local' opening reception - Oct. 14

We're setting the stage for your arrival! The Mundelein Arts Commission cordially invites the community to the opening reception of the second annual "Lure of the Local" art exhibition from 6-9 p.m. on Oct. 14, in the vacant space at Hawley Lake Plaza 420 N. Lake St. The event is free and includes live music, refreshments and food from local Mundelein restaurants.

Special thanks to the behind-the-scenes "Lure of the Local" team who are working diligently to get the space ready for this beautiful art exhibit.

If you are unable to attend the opening night reception, the exhibition will be open to the public every Saturday and Sunday from Oct. 15 through Nov. 12 (11 a.m. to 5 p.m.). The "Lure of the Local" curated exhibition exclusively features local artists. This year's theme is "Drawing You In."

"Lure of the Local" refers to our connectedness to a sense of place, the relationship of our interior and exterior environments, and the community in which we have chosen to live, work, serve, and create art. This curated group art exhibition brings together local artists from Mundelein and Lake County who are in various stages of their careers; artists who are your teachers, friends, and neighbors. Together we paint a more complete picture of what contemporary artistic practices look like right now and right here.

Special thanks to Hawley Lakes Plaza, LLC for generously donating the exhibition space. Artists interested in participating in future shows, are invited to sign the MAC's guest book at the exhibit or contact cmalec@mundelein.org.
