Law enforcement expo

Vernon Hills police will host its 13th Annual Law Enforcement Exhibition at Hawthorn Mall, routes 60 and 21 in Vernon Hills on Saturday, Sept. 9, and Sunday, Sept. 10. The event features specialty vehicles, equipment and demonstrations and officers from 28 agencies. Features of interest include motorcycles, a Humvee and a 911 calling simulator, police dog demonstrations and free handouts and giveaways. ID kits for kids including fingerprints, photos and video interviews will be offered. Mall hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
