Chicago Bears to open NFL preseason vs. Super Bowl champs

The Bears will open the 2016 preseason by hosting coach John Fox's former team, the defending Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos.

In Week 2 the Bears are on the road to face the defending AFC East champion New England Patriots and then return home to face the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 3.

The Bears' preseason concludes as it has for the past 12 years, against the Browns. This year's game will be in Cleveland.

The dates for the preseason games have not been determined, but the opening week's game will be played between Aug. 11-15. Week 2 games are anywhere from Aug. 18-22 and Week 3 games are between Aug. 25-28. The final week's games will be Sept. 1 or 2. Final dates and time will be released by the NFL later this month.

The NFL regular-season schedule will also be announced later this month with dates and times.

In addition to home and away games against NFC North foes (Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings), the Bears will host the Jacksonville Jaguars, Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers, Tennessee Titans and Washington this season. They hit the road for games against the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, New York Giants and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
