Vernon Hills welcomes holiday season with tree, menorah lighting

Vernon Hills held its annual holiday tree and menorah lighting ceremony Saturday evening.

Mayor Roger Byrne flipped the switch at the Vernon Hills Golf Course. The evening also included hot chocolate, cookies and cider. Santa arrived with an assist from the Countryside Fire District, avoiding any traffic tie-ups.
