All Saints Day at St. James School

Arlington Heights, IL November 1, 2018 - November 1 was a special day at St. James School. That day is known as All Saints Day. It is a holy day of obligation for Catholics, celebrated to honor all the saints, known and unknown. And at St. James, we celebrated this day with a longstanding 25 plus year tradition of honoring our saints; some families represented by great grandparents, grandparents, parents and children, all present at this Mass!

During October, all students study the saints' lives. This learning culminates with the Mass of the Feast of All Saints. First grade students show that we are all "saints in the making" at the Mass. They dress as their favorite saints, enter as a procession and participate as readers in the liturgy. This symbolism brings life to our remembrance of the important lives of the saints, honoring our spiritual mentors. All Saints Day is the day before All Souls Day or Día de los Muertos, a day of honoring our dear ones and ancestors.

Saint James Catholic School, a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, is dedicated to partnering with parents in modeling Christ. Faith. Leadership. Excellence. Service. You'll find them in all we do.
