Operatic memoir

After winning loads of critical and audience acclaim in New York and St. Louis, the 2019 opera "Fire Shut Up in My Bones" makes its Windy City debut. Composer Terence Blanchard and librettist Kasi Lemmons' operatic adaptation of Charles Blow's memoir of his difficult childhood in rural Louisiana begins a six-performance run starting Thursday at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, 20 N.
