Openings available for Vernon Hills Citizen's Police Academy

Openings are available for Vernon Hills' next Citizen's Police Academy program, which runs from 7 to 9:30 p.m. for 10 consecutive Wednesdays beginning March 11.

The free program consists of classroom training, discussion, demonstrations and hands-on techniques. Some of the topics covered include patrol operations, use of force, firearms (including use of the range), DUI enforcement and evidence collection. Participants also will ride along with a police officer.
