A responsible plan
As a 47-year resident of Wheaton devoted to the quality of life it offers, I am a strong supporter of our great school district. From highly qualified slates of candidates, we have elected those we wish to guide District 200 on our behalf. They have studied every conceivable choice for providing appropriate educational facilities for those of our community dealing with developmental challenges and have come up with a plan to most economically meet their legally required and morally obligated needs.
The Jefferson proposal is the most financially efficient and functionally appropriate solution and I endorse it. The proposed lease is simply a financing tool at a cost of less than one percent of the district's annual operating budget, and energy and maintenance efficiencies of a new building will even cover part of that. We have studied and debated the Jefferson situation for years.
Let's get on with it. Vote yes on the District 200 referendum.
