Recycle your holiday cooking oil with SCARCE on Nov. 28

To make cooking oil recycling more convenient for residents, SCARCE is hosting its annual Cooking Oil Collection Day with its recycling partner Green Grease Environmental.

Each year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, additional temporary drop-off locations are available for liquid cooking oil. If you’re frying a turkey or anything else, bring the liquid cooking oil (vegetable-based only, no bacon fat or other solid animal fats) in a container to one of the participating locations. Containers will not be returned so be sure to bring one you don’t mind leaving behind.

It will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 28, at SCARCE, 800 S. Rohlwing Road, Unit D in Addison, as well as at various pop-up locations around DuPage County. For up-to-date information on the locations, go to scarce.org/cooking-oil/.
