Moped driver hurt in crash with state police vehicle at DuPage Airport

An on-duty Illinois State Police vehicle collided with a moped Wednesday afternoon at the DuPage Airport in West Chicago, leaving the bike’s driver seriously injured, officials said.

The crash occurred at about 12:40 p.m., when the trooper was exiting the airport onto Tower Road, state police said. The moped driver was thrown from the vehicle as a result of the impact.

Officers rendered aid until paramedics arrived and took the moped driver to an area hospital, state police said. The trooper was not injured.

State police did not provide additional details on how the collision occurred. The ISP’s Division of Internal Investigation is investigating.
