Temptations tuner marks the opening of Drury Lane Theatre’s 2027-28 season

“Ain’t Too Proud — The Life and Times of the Temptations,” the Tony Award-winning jukebox tuner chronicling the rise of the seminal Motown group, inaugurates Drury Lane Theatre’s 2027-2028 season.

The production, which runs March 31 through May 30, 2027, marks the regional premiere of the musical, which includes such classics as “My Girl,” “Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me),” “Ball of Confusion” and “I Can’t Get Next to You” among others.

“We have put together a season filled with great music, laughter, romance and some of the most beloved works in American theater,” said executive producer Kyle DeSantis in a prepared statement. “My family has always believed that a visit to Drury Lane should be more than simply seeing a show. It should be an occasion — something you look forward to, enjoy from the moment you arrive and remember long after the curtain comes down.”

“Ain’t Too Proud” is followed by the revue “Some Enchanted Evening — The Songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein” (June 9 through Aug. 1, 2027). Next up is the stage adaptation of “Clue.” A musical version of the 1985 comedy-thriller inspired by the Hasbro board game, it runs from Aug. 18 through Oct. 17, 2027.

From Nov. 3, 2027, through Jan. 9, 2028, Drury Lane revives the seasonal favorite “Irving Berlin’s White Christmas,” adapted from the 1954 film and featuring some of Berlin’s biggest hits: “Blue Skies,” “Sisters” and the classic titular tune.

The season concludes with one of theater’s great works, “West Side Story” (Jan. 19 through March 26, 2028), Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim’s ever-timely portrayal of young love, bigotry and senseless violence.

Still to come this season: “Annie” (Nov. 4-Jan. 10, 2027); a young audiences production of “A Christmas Carol” (Nov. 26-Dec. 30) and “9 to 5” (Jan. 27-March 21, 2027).
