Dining out: Portillo’s x OREO dessert collab, CPK’s Jack-O-Lantern pizzas and more

Portillo’s is teaming up with OREO for three new limited-time desserts, bringing together the classic cookies with Portillo’s famous cake and hand-spun shakes.
The OREO Shake features a vanilla shake loaded with crushed OREO cookie pieces, while the OREO Cake is a white cake mixed with OREO pieces, iced with OREO frosting and topped with more cookie pieces. The OREO Cake Shake (I’m sure you saw that one coming) features a vanilla shake blended with OREO Cake and topped with crushed OREO pieces.
Portillo’s Perks members can get a $1 slice of OREO Cake (limit one) with a $5 purchase Oct. 12-18.
Frightfully tasty
CPK‘s annual Halloween tradition is back with the return of the 7-inch CPKids Jack-O-Lantern Pizza.
The $5 pepperoni-eyed pizzas are available all month, either fully baked and ready for dine-in or takeout, or as a build-your-own take-and-bake kit for kids to build their pies at home.
CPK is also celebrating National Pizza Month by “making amends with its fan base for failing to bring back all the beloved pizzas from its past menus.”
They’re offering 25,000 “apology pizzas” that can be claimed via a social media campaign to lovers of the long-lost Jamaican Jerk Chicken, Shrimp Scampi, Pear and Gorgonzola, et al pies. The gist is that the first 25,000 people to accept their apology on their socials will get a direct message and redemption code valid for one free 7-inch pizza with any $20 online purchase. ‘You can be my wingman anytime’
Nando’s PERi-PERi has an offer for you and your wingman, and no, it doesn’t involve Iceman or Maverick from “Top Gun.”
From now until Tuesday, Oct. 20, any customer who brings in a friend and orders 12 wings and chips for dine-in will get a second order of wings and chips for free for their wingman (or wingwoman, bestie, plus-one).
As a bonus, fans who post a photo to social media with their wingman at Nando’s with the tag @NandosUSA and complete the sentence “They’re my wingman because __,” will be entered for a chance to win free Nando’s for a year — for both guests.
The chef recommends …
Old Town Pour House, with locations in Naperville and Oak Brook, has released its latest Chef Selects lineup, a seasonal, limited-time menu of food and drinks that rotates every couple of months.
Featured food dishes include the Korean Brisket Crispy Rice, featuring bulgogi-glazed smoked brisket and crispy rice, as well as Sweet & Spicy Chicken and Waffles with a gochujang maple glaze. The pair of specialty drinks includes the banana espresso martini and the maple bourbon martini. The menu is available until Jan. 5.
Also, beginning Wednesday, Oct. 14, the Naperville location will offer a full happy hour menu featuring food and drink specials, thanks to a change in local liquor laws. Now both locations will offer $2 off all beers (excluding 6-ounce pours), wine and well drinks, plus $6 bar bites from 4-6 p.m. weekdays.
