Al Larson Cultural Center’s season opens Sept. 19 with Neil Diamond tribute
Joyful. Moving. Unexpected. The Al Larson Cultural Center’s 2026-27 “Season of Arts and Entertainment” is filled with unique live performances that spark imagination and delight.
The excitement starts on Saturday, Sept. 19, when Broadway’s Eric Gutman (“Jersey Boys”) and his dynamic band authentically rock the hits of Neil Diamond in “Hello Again.” Comedy fans are in for a treat when Schaumburg’s popular stand-up series “Thursday Night Laughs” returns on Thursday, Oct. 8, featuring short sets from a fresh lineup of top Chicago talent at monthly shows through April.
Audiences will be transported back in time on Saturday, Oct. 10, when immersive tribute drama “Folsom Prison Experience” brings the legendary 1968 Johnny Cash concert to life.
On Saturday, Oct. 24, internationally acclaimed artist Kelly O’Brien pays homage to Dolly Parton, delivering the unforgettable look, sound, warmth and songs of the beloved country music legend in “The Dolly Show.”
On Saturday, Nov. 7, Chicago magic royalty Dennis Watkins makes a rare suburban appearance, showcasing the astonishing illusions that have made his acclaimed Magic Parlour one of Chicago’s top attractions.
Holiday fun starts early when the Chris White Trio performs Vince Guaraldi’s beloved jazz score from “A Charlie Brown Christmas” on Saturday, Nov. 21.
The festive season continues with Schaumburg Dance Ensemble’s 31st annual production of “The Nutcracker,” running for 12 performances over two weekends, Dec. 3-13.
Back by popular demand, Zachary Stevenson, known for his leading role in “The Buddy Holly Story,” brings a retro-rock twist to holiday favorites in “A Holly Jolly Christmas” on Friday, Dec. 18. Joining Stevenson, Chicago’s own Lovettes add dazzling harmonies to the mix for a Yuletide celebration.
Rounding out the season, Schaumburg Youth Orchestra and Choral Program present a heartwarming program of traditional and contemporary music in the annual “Presto! Holiday Concert” on Saturday, Dec. 19.
The season continues in 2027, starting with family-friendly fare. On Saturday, Feb. 6, the Taylor Swift tribute “Are You Ready for It?” reimagines the superstar’s record-breaking “Eras Tour” and spans her prolific career, from her debut album to her most recent release, “The Life of a Showgirl.”
On Saturday, Feb. 27, the Peking Acrobats return by popular demand, performing feats of daring and precision.
Things heat up Saturday, April 3, when renowned bassist and founding member of the Grammy-nominated Stray Cats Lee Rocker performs a mix of Stray Cats hits and other favorites.
The Broadway Spotlight Series returns on Saturday, April 17, featuring multiple Tony Award nominee Judy Kuhn. Known for originating the roles of Cosette in “Les Misérables” and Florence in “Chess” on Broadway, Kuhn is also known as the singing voice of Disney’s “Pocahontas.” An intimate evening of music is highlighted by a performance of the Academy Award-winning “Colors of the Wind” accompanied by the Schaumburg Youth Orchestra.
Capping off the season, Sitar Maestro Niladri Kumaar presents “The Space Between the Notes” on Saturday, April 24.
This special concert celebrates the rich history of Indian classical music. The program also honors Kumaar’s friend, mentor and frequent musical collaborator, the late Tabla virtuoso Zakir Hussain, featuring selections from the soon-to-be-released live album of the two maestros’ concert performance in Mumbai, India.
