Motorcyclist killed in Mount Prospect crash

A Des Plaines man was killed Saturday night when the motorcycle he was driving collided with an SUV in Mount Prospect.

Daniel Nikov, 31, was riding west in the median lane on Oakton Street approaching First Avenue at about 8:06 p.m. when a Jeep SUV exited First to turn left on to Oakton and collided with his motorcycle, Mount Prospect police said.

Nikov was taken from the scene by ambulance to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

The 19-year-old Carpentersville man driving the Jeep was treated for minor injuries, police said.

Oakton Street was closed between Badger Road and Higgins Road until about 1:45 a.m. while police investigated the collision. The crash remains under investigation by Mount Prospect police and the Major Crash Investigation Team. Anyone with information is asked to call (847) 818-5301.
